Buying or Selling Tickets Is It Worth It?

I just checked out StubHub to see what the buzz is all about with their service of hooking up sellers of tickets with buyers. Well let me tell you, I was more than impressed with what they offer and what was available. In my case they really delivered.

I was looking to get a pair of tickets to the Broadway Show "West Side Story" to give as a gift for my mother for Mother's Day. After a quick search I found a pair of tickets available for the date I was interested in for a reasonable price (around $250). This price reflects the location of the seats in the theater (in this case orchestra) so the better the location, the higher the cost. There is a display that shows the seating layout, so you can see where the seats are located before purchasing (another nice feature).

Some Caveats:

Stubhub will ask some questions about your ticket choice, shipping address, etc., before completing the order. One of the four major credit cards are required for payment (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover) and then a confirmation e-mail is immediately sent. Once the tickets are ready to deliver, another e-mail will be sent. Since the seller has to be contacted first after the order is completed, there will be a certain amount of lag time between order completion and when the tickets are shipped. Stubhub is conscientious in keeping the communication channels open by letting you know what is taking place each step of the way. You might get a little worried about getting your tickets on time, especially when an event is very close. It is best to allow enough time for the tickets to arrive by purchasing tickets in advance when possible. But Stubhub will do its best to relieve some of your stress.

Well the tickets I ordered arrived by FedEx three days after I ordered them. To say my mother was overjoyed is to put it mildly. The look on her face when she saw the tickets was well worth the price. I plan on using StubHub to purchase tickets for myself. Heck, there a tickets available to the NY Mets for around five bucks. Not the best seats in the house but then I'll have more money for beer and hot dogs.......
